Imagine this scenario:
In school, 10am in the morning. Listening to a teacher who is preparing work for you for the next half an hour. You get bored listening to her instructions and start talking to the person next you. You start talking about how hungry you are when your friend suddenly commented about this article she saw in STAR Newsaper that featured this doughnut shop in Curve. Your other friend, sitting in front of you then turns around and said that he has been there and the doughnut is fantastic. Thinking of how hungry you are and how yummy the doughnut would be in your tummy = I AM WILLING TO DIE FOR IT! Before long, you discretely sms your mom to send your friend and you to Curve right after school just to get a bite on that doughnut. You even start asking and taking orders. After school, you go to Curve with your friend. Go to the doughnut store and poof! suddenly your craving is just not there anymore. A minute ago, it was still there. You buy the doughnuts and eat it. Yummy but you thought it would be better.
Have you ever experienced something like this? Where you set our expectations too high and you do not get the satisfaction later when you achieve it?
How nice if we could all have normal expectations of ourselves and end up happy everytime. And hope does has that effect too.
